Bole District Distributes 60,000 cashew seedlings to farmers

 

The Bole District Director of Agriculture Mr Ibraihim  Mumuni together with the District Chief Executive (DCE) for Bole Madam Veronica Alele  Heming and other officials last Tuesday distributed 60,000 cashew seedlings to farmers in the Bole district.

At a short ceremony to share the seedlings at the Bole District  Assembly premises Mr Ibraihim said aside the Planting for Food and Jobs, government has also put much emphasis on Planting for Export and Rural Development.

Speaking to Nkilgi Fm the Bole District Director of Agric said last year the Bole District was second in the distribution of the cashew seedlings to farmers in Ghana and that last year they nursed 100,000 and distributed 80,000 seedlings, which took the district to the second position in the whole Ghana.

He added that, this year the plan is to distribute 200,000 of the cashew seedlings to the farmers who are in need of them.

He said they will start with 60,000 seedlings and will distribute another 60,000 later.

According to the Bole District Director of Agric, a farmer is entitled to one acre seedlings which is 40 pieces.

He said 956 farmers registered for the seedlings this year and more will be registering later.

The DCE for Bole, Madam Veronica Alele Heming mentioned that the distribution of the cashew seedlings is not about politics and that anyone having interest can register for them.

The DCE said the people of her District should take interest in cashew farming since it is very beneficial now.
