Killer of Bantama SDA caretaker arrested

The Asante Regional Police Command has arrested one Kwame Minta who is widely known as Soso for the murder of a care taker at the Bantama Seventh Day Adventist Church on Tuesday June 30, 2020

The suspect according to the Asante Regional Police Commander COP Kwasi Mensah Duku was arrested at a hide out in Ashtown a suburb of Kumasi on August 8, 2020, two months after the murder.

Addresssing the Media in a press confrence at the Headquarters of the Asante Regional Police Command, COP Kwasi Mensah Duku said the suspect who admitted the offence is currently in their custody assisting investigations

A 40 year old man on Tuesday August 30 , 2020 was shot dead by some unknown assailants at the forecourt of Bantama SDA church.

The victim who was named by police as Mark Amofa, is a caretaker of the Seventh Day Adventist Church at Bantama.

He was found at the church’s main gate with gunshot wounds on his right chest and was taken to the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital, where he later died, police said.

The robbers attacked the victim just before he alighted from a vehicle as they demanded for the cash. He was later shot and killed by one of the robbers, as they made away with a cash amount of ¢4,370, OTEC News reporter Kwame Agyenim Boateng who was at the scene after the incident said.

COP Kwasi Mensah Duku disclosed that two suspects (names withheld) in connection with the murder are on the run.
