Iconic Samira Bawumia Shows Her Motherly Instincts In So Many Ways

To say that the Second Lady of the Republic, Mrs Hajia Samira Bawumia is a trailblazer would be an understatement. She has achieved a lot in the two years of the Akufo-Addo/Bawumia-led administration.

As a matter of fact, Samira has achieved a feat that pales those of her predecessor(s) into insignificance. She has done so much to positively affect the lives of hundreds of thousands of Ghanaians in so many ways.

Just like her mother, Mrs Rebecca Akufo-Addo, the First Lady of the Republic, Samira’s philanthropic exploits are too visible to be ignored.

Though time is militating against a rundown of all the great and wondrous things that have come from Samira Bawumia, it would be a great disservice to Ghanaians not to itemize the key ones;

Mrs Bawumia made a donation to the Ridge Hospital. She supplied the hospital with neurosurgical equipment to augment the ones the hospital possesses.

The Second Lady also made a donation to the Tamale Teaching Hospital in terms of medical equipment to help the outfit deal with emergency cases.

The kindhearted Second Lady has gone to the aid of widows in some parts of the country. In the Ashanti Region alone, 350 widows have benefited from GTP cloths, rice, milo, cooking oil and other related items in that category.

It is worth mentioning the fact that the same feat mentioned above was repeated in the Northern Region as about 300 widows were also shown Samira’s magnanimity.

It would be recalled that quite recently the Second Lady and her husband, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, hosted about 150 lepers in their home.

Moreover, Samira tentacled her kindness to the people of Agona Swedru by donating learning materials to kids in five schools in the area. She also donated books (Library in a box) to some junior high schools within the district.

Mention must be made of the fact that about 35 schools across seven (7) regions have been beneficiaries of Samira’s Library in the Box project.

More so, the La General Hospital also experienced the generosity of the Second Lady of the Republic. She donated prenatal vitamins, beverages, toiletries and other items.

It is noteworthy recalling the launch of the much talked about Safe Delivery Project in Salaga which is aimed at helping pregnant women deliver safely.

To help protect Ghanaians from sexual harassment and other harmful occurrences, the Second Lady has launched a project called Coalition of Persons Against Sexual and Gender-based Violence and Harmful Practices (CoPASH).

The above-itemized projects were all achieved in 2018. She achieved a lot in 2017 as well which were all geared towards improving the lives of Ghanaians.

From the above, it is an established fact that Hajia Samira Bawumia’s altruistic instinct cannot be questioned. She is contributing more than her quota to the growth and development of Mother Ghana.
