An unidentified young Ghanaian woman claiming to be involved in illegal mining activities popularly known as galamsey has issued a stern warning to Ghanaians to stop sending her messages under her videos attempting to advise her.
According to her, any advice should be directed to President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo, as she believes he needs it the most.
In a video shared on X (formerly known as Twitter) by SIKAOFFICIAL, the lady claimed that she is not the only person involved in galamsey activities and alleged that President Akufo-Addo is involved as well.
She further challenged any Ghanaian to come to her comment section and verify the claims, stating that she is ready to provide directions to the president’s alleged galamsey site.
She added that she is not the initiator of galamsey in the country and emphasised that she is not the one responsible for addressing the menace.
“Hey, those of you who comment beneath my videos when I post about galamsey or machines saying ‘you are spoiling our land, you are spoiling our water bodies’… shut up! Close your gutters! If you have any advice, don’t leave it in my comment section because I am not the one to change Ghana; I didn’t initiate galamsey,” she lamented.
“…If you have any advice, go and give it to your Nana Addo. Ask him if he is not involved in galamsey himself… he has a site. If you want to know about his site, come to my comment section and let me give you directions to his (Akufo-Addo’s) site. So, close your gutters! Can you afford to give me GH¢500 daily? Can you pay me GH¢3,000 a month?” she quizzed.
Meanwhile, the government has intensified its efforts in tackling the menace of galamsey by deploying a military taskforce to address illegal mining and eradicate these activities from water bodies and forest reserves.
The military task force is collaborating with the Ghana National Association of Small-Scale Miners to arrest and confront illegal miners at various sites.
This action follows demands from Organised Labour and a cross section of Ghanaians who have called for a ban on illegal small-scale mining.
