Huawei confirms termination of contract with Teacher Kwadwo

Technology company Huawei Mobile has announced that it has severed its relationship with comedian Teacher Kwadwo.

The announcement comes a few days after the comedian took to social media to disclose that he no longer has any contract with Huawei.

The termination of the contract was precipitated by a petition by PepperDem Ministries, a feminist group, to the company to halt their work relationship with Teacher Kwadwo, citing rape-related posts made by the comedian and teacher on his Facebook timeline as the reason for their call.

On Monday morning, Huawei posted on its Twitter handle a notice dissociating itself from the comedian.

“It has come to our attention that Huawei is being associated with an individual who is believed to have made sexually offensive and irresponsible comments on social media.

“We want to categorically state that Huawei currently has no brand ambassador in Ghana,” the notice stated.

The group also requested that the comedian be sanctioned by the Ghana Education Service (GES).

Even though Teacher Kwadwo claims he has not been sacked from the GES, a letter he shared on his Facebook timeline indicated that he has been cautioned by the service to be of good behaviour.

Teacher Kwadwo, born Michael Owusu Afriyie, is popularly known for his comic skits on social media.
