Empress Gifty expressed her painful moment through divorce

Gospel musician Empress Gifty has opened up on her painful experience with divorce and the mental trauma that comes with it.

In a video shared on Instagram on April 1, 2025, she stated that going through a divorce can be the “worst nightmare” one could experience in life.

She explained that the trauma could even affect a future partner, particularly if that partner is younger.

“You don’t have any idea the trauma one goes through when going through a divorce. It’s like you are now starting your entire life again. “It is also frustrating if, after going through the divorce, you settle for a younger man because your family will disrespect him. Even your friends will mock him, and you won’t even feel comfortable walking with him,” she said.

Empress Gifty added that marrying an older man is the best option.

Using her marriage as an example, she indicated that she feels safe whenever she is with her current husband in public.

“But if the man is older than you, you feel safe whenever you are with him. If I am with my husband, I feel comfortable because if you touch me, he will come for you too,” she added.
