Popular Ghanaian Dancehall star Shatta Wale has reacted to the news of Jamaican musician Vybz Kartel’s release from prison.
Shatta Wale had been vocal about his support for Vybz Kartel since his incarceration in 2014 for murder.
Shatta Wale was the only African artiste who actively campaigned for Kartel’s freedom through the #FreeVybzKartel movement and even released a song, “Free Up Di Gaza,” in 2016 advocating for a reduced sentence and Kartel’s ultimate release.
Following the announcement of Kartel’s release on July 31, 2024, Shatta Wale took to social media to share his excitement with his followers, posting, “Gaza Freedom is a must, I knew this day would come, welcome home fada for all.”
In a series of celebratory posts on Facebook, Shatta Wale expressed his relief that he can now freely travel to Jamaica, knowing his mentor is there to welcome him.
“My Teacher is freeeeeeee … I can now go to Jamaica in peace, Psalms 35 for my king manifested. Kartel is a Free man!!” he posted.
Additionally, Shatta Wale revealed that he has recorded a victory song to commemorate the release of his musical inspiration.
