How A Man Of God Kept Hawa Koomson In His Bedroom After Assault – Sammi Awuku Narrates

The Member of Parliament for Akuapim North, Sammi Awuku, has revealed details surrounding the assault on former Fisheries and Aquaculture Minister, Mavis Hawa Koomson, during the Ablekuma North election.

Hawa Koomson was physically assaulted by individuals purported to be affiliated with the opposition National Democratic Congress (NDC). The former minister was also accused of using pepper spray during the altercation; a move Awuku described as self-defense.

If she hadn’t used the pepper spray, they would’ve killed her,” Awuku stated during a panel discussion on Peace FM’s Kokrokoo morning show. He strongly condemned the incident, calling it a “scar on the conscience of Mahama’s administration.

Detailing the chaotic events that followed, Awuku said the situation became so dangerous that Hawa Koomson had to be whisked away to a mission house for safety. However, he claimed the attackers pursued her to the location.

These NDC hooligans followed her to the mission house. It took the man of God to lock Hawa and Darkoa Newman in his bedroom before a police armoured vehicle arrived and they were then taken through the back door to a nearby police station,” Awuku recounted.
