Have you withdrawn my driving or film acting license? – Bukom Banku mocks GBA

Popular Ghanaian boxer, Brimah Kamako, better known as Bukom Banku has finally reacted to the withdrawal of his professional license by the Ghana Boxing Authority (GBA) for what the association says it as a result of a breach of contract.
Bukom Banku allegedly signed a contract with Box Office Promotions for a rematch fight against Bastie Samir in June last year.

The rematch was to settle old scores after Bukom Banku was handed his first and only defeat by Samir Basite via a round seven TKO at the Bukom Boxing Arena on October 21, 2017.

Despite being an Olympian, the victory was a big feat for Samir who had come into the fight as underdog to overcome an undefeated Banku who paraded himself as the Ghanaian Mayweather.

However, after signing the contract to fight in the rematch, Banku failed to prepare and called of the fight without the notice of the promoters who paid him GHC 17,000 cedis in advance for the fight.

Several months have passed with Banku showing no sign he wants to honor the rematch.

The issue compelled the GBA to withdraw Banku’s professional boxing license which will make him ineligible to fight in any bout.

Speaking to the first time after the news broke, the comic boxer says he is unaware of the decision taken by the GBA since he is not able to identify the specific license which has been withdrawn.

He further advised the GBA to assist Bastie Samir to become a World Champion since they see him as more competent.

“Bastie beat me and stopped me in round seven and I understand. My promoter helped me travel to Britain for a world title fight. You took Bastie, so help Bastie. I pray for Bastie to be a world champion. I don’t wish anyone’s downfall,” Banku said.

He added, “Which of my license have you taken? Is it for diving or film acting or what? I have a music license and I have a film license. So, what license do you have, boxing license or what?”

The boxer has been ordered to refund the amount of GHC 17,000 to the CEO of Box Office Promotions, Alex Ntiamoah or be dragged to the law courts if he fails to pay.
