Goaso Traditional Council orders closure of all basic schools and shops

The Goaso Traditional Council in the Ahafo Region has ordered the closure of all basic schools, shops and stores in the Traditional Area ahead of the one-week observance of the death of the late Paramount Chief of Goaso, Nana Akwasi Bosompra I.

However, the council said pharmacy shops, fuel pumps, financial institutions, and restaurants could operate.

In an interview with the media at Goaso on Tuesday, Nana Kwabena Frimpong the Planning Committee Chairman of the one-week observance, said the directive begins from Thursday, February 27, 2025, until further notice.

He said the council had banned all social gatherings, including funerals and wedding ceremonies, and asked the people to comply.

The late paramount chief died on December 23, 2024, after a short illness. He was 58 years and reigned for 16 years, after being enstooled in 2008.
