The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has said the country’s security is in total mess and Ghanaian’s safety for that matter cannot be assured.
According to the NDC, government is to be blamed for anxieties caused by various reports that Ghana is under security threat following the recent kidnappings which has engulfed the country.
NDC Communications Officer, Sammy Gyamfi, addressing the media at the party’s Moment of Truth Series accused the ruling NPP of abusing power by unleashing terror on courts, hospitals, security officials, NDC supporters and innocent citizens through vigilante groups.
“The Akufo-Addo government has superintended over the pathetic nose-diving of our security, through the formation, training and encouragement of vigilante groups, members of which have now become Frankenstein monsters devouring innocent citizens.” He indicated.
He claimed that NPP has politicized issues of security and now they have resorted to “blaming and demonizing” the NDC for the growing levels of insecurity in the country.
The outspoken politician further added, when it comes to the issue of politicizing security, President Akufo-Addo and his NPP are “kingpins in this enterprise”, as they virtually blamed President Mahama and the NDC for everything under the sun whilst in opposition.
Condemning the recent arrest of the party’s National Chairman, Samuel Ofosu Ampofo, he posited that “The matter of the kidnapping of the two Canadian girls should not be a matter for political discourse, given its serious implications for national security and our diplomatic relations with the Canadian state. However, the fact remains, that the Akufo-Addo government has sought to demonize the NDC and its National Chairman in its desperate attempt to conceal their security failures and destroy the hard-earned reputation of our chairman and the NDC as a whole.”
In a bid to save the party from shame, he stated that the NDC was left with no option than to reveal that the alleged culprits behind the kidnapping of the two Canadian women are members of the NPP-affiliated vigilante groups.
“After 24hrs the nation is being kept in the dark as to concealing the true identity of the criminals. It is scary to reveal that the kidnapping was largely orchestrated by hoodlums and bandits of the NPP.”
Samuel Gyamfi indicated that reason for the exposure, was to reveal to Ghanaians the “manner of people leading them.”
