Gbewaa Palace assault: We are sorry – Police to Ya-Naa

The Northern Regional Police Command has expressed its sincerest apology to the Overlord of Dagbon, Ya-Naa Abubakari Mahama and the entire Kingdom for the unprofessional conduct exhibited by some police officers on Thursday 16th January 2020 at the Gbewaa Palace, Yendi.

Some police officers followed a driver to the Palace where he had gone to seek refuge and assaulted and injured him after he failed to stop when he was signaled by the police officers at a checkpoint on the Bimbilla-Yendi road.

The five Police officers at Bimbilla in Corporal (Cpl), Kenneth Amoah Korsah, Lance Corporal ( L/Cpl), Prince Agyemang Duah, L/Cpl, Prince Setordzi Mmadzi , L/Cpl, Bruce Xonam and L/Cpl Samuel Takyi have since been interdicted by the Police Administration for their unruly conduct.

The Northern Regional Police Commander, COP Timothy Yoosa Bonga in a statement addressed to the Ya-Naa said “we sincerely apologize and assure you that such an unfortunate incident will never repeat itself. Again, we assure you and the people of this Kingdom the best of our services.”
