Four excavators burst into flames at Trassaco Paatang

A major fire outbreak at Paatang, located within the Trassaco Northern Quarters in Accra, led to the destruction of heavy machinery and property on the morning of Saturday, July 13, 2025.

The incident, which caused significant alarm in the upscale area, involved four excavators and a security post stationed at the site.

According to the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS), the Madina Fire Station received a distress call about a fire consuming construction equipment at the site. A fire crew was immediately dispatched and arrived at the scene.

Upon arrival, firefighters found four excavators and the security post already engulfed in flames.

Swift intervention by the crew ensured the fire was brought under control within 16 minutes and fully extinguished within an hour, averting a larger disaster.

The incident resulted in partial damage to all four excavators, with one reported to be extensively charred. The security post, however, was completely destroyed, with nothing salvageable.

Preliminary assessments suggest the possibility of an electrical fault or ignition from a heat source. However, the GNFS has confirmed that a full investigation is underway to determine the exact cause of the fire
