Former Second Lady Matilda Amissah-Arthur gives details of her horrific robbery attack

In a video shared by Daily Graphic Online on Sunday, June 9, 2024, the former second lady described waking up in the middle of the night and discovering that she was not alone in her room.

She found a muscular man standing before her, pointing a gun and threatening, “Don’t move. If you do, I will shoot.”

Initially thinking it was a dream, she quickly realized the seriousness of the situation after some reflection.

The robber demanded money, and she handed over $2,200 that her siblings had entrusted to her for a project, 5 euros, and all the Ghanaian cedis in her purse.

Despite complying, the robber insisted it wasn’t enough and began to strangle her and strike her head repeatedly.

Desperate to appease him, she gave him her gold watch, earrings, and other valuables, but he remained unsatisfied.

“He got upset, turned my room upside down. Of course, he didn’t find money, he didn’t find any jewellery. And then he started, ‘You’ve wasted my time, so I’ll kill you. And that ‘I want to call my boss.’ Whether he called his boss or not, I don’t know.”

She added, “By this time, he had dragged me from the bed and put me on the ground, hitting my head on the floor. He spoke on the phone for two minutes and said, ‘My boss said I should shoot you, but I won’t shoot you. I would strangle you so that you die a slow death. And next time you come, you will have money.'”

The former Second Lady, who is the widow of the late former Vice President Paa Kwesi Amissah-Arthur, said she begged her attacker, saying, “I don’t have money. You have searched my room,” but he started strangling her.

She indicated that she could feel she was dying and went into a trance in a beautiful place that had buildings she had never seen before and the most amazing garden she had ever seen.

She started picking the flowers in the garden before a faceless person held her hand and told her, “It is time to go.”
