Five perish in Assakai- Kwesimintsim road crash

 

Five persons on-board an Opel vectra taxi with registration number WR 4957 -12 have died on the main Kwesimintsim – Assakai road after a Man Diesel tipper truck with registration number GE 8305-Z ran into the taxi killing all 5 passengers.

According to Police report , one Nana Kwame Addison, was driving the Man Diesel truck from Aboadze in the Shama district to Elubo, and upon reaching the Kwesimintsim /Asakai junction, the opel vectra taxi had stopped for mourners to cross to the cemetery ; but the speeding truck recklessly ran into the taxi and in the process injured all passengers including the driver on the spot.

The severely injured were then rushed to the Jemima Clinic and the Kwesimitsim hospital but were later pronounced dead.

The deceased include the driver of the Opel vectra a pregnant woman, two children and a middle aged man.

The bodies of the deceased have been deposited at the Effia Nkwanta regional hospital morgue for preservation and autopsy.

The driver in charge of the Man Diesel has his vehicle impounded by the police and is in custody assisting investigations.

Many bystanders are attributing the increasing accidents on the road to lack of traffic lights and street lights on the newly constructed road. – Emmanuel Ohene Gyan
