Fire destroys four shops at Santa Maria

A fire outbreak involving four metal containers has been reported at Santa Maria A-land near the taxi rank.

It is currently unclear what led to the fire in the food stalls at about 2pm, yesterday.

Firefighters from the Anyaa Fire Station were called the scene to salvage the situation.

Thanks to their swift response and bravery, the fire was prevented from causing further damage.

It took the crew under the command of ADO II Kobina Nyameye Dey, over an hour to completely douse the fire.

Assistance was sought from the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) to isolate power in the affected area, ensuring safety during the firefighting operation.

Despite the heroic efforts of the fire crew, the contents of the affected shops were completely destroyed.

The Ghana National Fire Service has launched an investigation to determine the cause of the incident.
