Fire Breaks Out Near DTRT Facility and Budget Deco Warehouse on Graphic Road

A major fire incident occurred on Graphic Road in Accra on Thursday afternoon, sparking panic among businesses and residents in the area. The blaze reportedly began close to the DTRT clothing facility and quickly spread to affect the nearby Budget Deco warehouse, sending thick plumes of smoke into the sky.

Eyewitnesses described the scene as chaotic, with workers and bystanders rushing to safety while firefighters raced to contain the flames. The Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) deployed multiple fire tenders to the scene and worked tirelessly to bring the situation under control, successfully confining the fire before it could spread to additional properties.

Although the fire has been contained, the full extent of damage to the affected facilities remains under investigation. Authorities are also probing the possible cause of the blaze, which has not yet been officially disclosed.

Business owners in the area expressed relief that the quick response by the GNFS prevented further destruction, noting that the Graphic Road industrial zone is home to several warehouses, factories, and offices that could have been severely impacted had the fire spread further.

The incident has reignited conversations about the need for stricter fire safety measures, especially in high-risk industrial and commercial corridors. Experts have called for regular safety audits, well-equipped fire hydrants, and public awareness on fire prevention to avoid similar disasters in the future.

Residents and workers have been urged to avoid the immediate vicinity while cleanup operations and investigations continue.
