Final Funeral Rites for Comfort Agyepong (née Adjoa Badu) Announced

The family of the late Comfort Agyepong (née Adjoa Badu), mother of former New Patriotic Party (NPP) General Secretary Kwabena Agyepong, has shared details of her final funeral rites.

In a statement seen by GhanaWeb, the family announced that the funeral will take place on Thursday, April 24, 2025, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.

Mrs. Agyepong was the widow of the late Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong, one of the three High Court judges tragically murdered on June 30, 1982—a loss that marked a painful chapter in Ghana’s history. The family expressed their deep appreciation to the public for the support and condolences received following her passing.

“With deep sorrow, but with gratitude for a life of purpose and dignity, the Agyepong family announces the final funeral arrangements for their beloved mother, Mrs. Comfort Agyepong (née Adjoa Badu),” the statement read. “Her unwavering strength and grace in the face of great personal loss left a lasting imprint on the nation’s collective memory.”

Kwabena Agyepong first shared news of his mother’s passing on February 23, 2025, through a heartfelt Facebook post. She passed away on February 18, 2025.

Describing her as “a pillar of strength, love, and resilience,” he wrote, “With a heavy heart, I announce the passing of my beloved mother, Mrs. Comfort Agyepong. She now rests with my father, Justice Kwadwo Agyei Agyepong.”
