Fella Makafui stars in popular Netflix series ‘Anikulapo’ season 2

Ghanaian actress Fella Makafui has been cast in a leading role for the second season of the popular Nigerian Netflix series Anikulapo.

The series, according to reports will be available on Netflix in over 191 countries.

It would be recalled that Nigerian producer cum director of the movie, Kunle Afolayan announced in June that Season 2 of the award-winning series would be filmed in Ghana.

In this regard, the Chief Executive Officer of the National Film Authority (NFA), Juliet Asante, has shared the news of Fella’s role along with a picture of the actress in action.

This initiative, according to her is part of Ghana’s mission to collaborate with other African countries, aiming to open doors for Ghanaian talent on the global stage.

Directed by the renowned Kunle Afolayan and greenlit by Netflix, the series positions Ghana as an emerging destination for film production under the NFA’s #ShootInGhana agenda.

Asante expressed her gratitude for the support from the Ministry of Tourism, the Ghana Tourism Authority, and the Ghana Museums & Monuments Board, as well as Kunle Afolayan’s willingness to collaborate on this project.

She praised Fella Makafui for her hard work and dedication, particularly her commitment to learning the Yoruba language for her role.

Fella celebrated this milestone on her Instagram, disclosing that she will portray the character Abena in Anikulapo, a show that explores life in pre-colonial times.

The comment section of her post was flooded with congratulations from her colleagues in the movie industry, who see this as a significant win for Ghana.
