Dec 27, 2018 at 08:13 The annual African Cultural Traditional Fancy Dress Festival sees children and adults wear masquerading colorful outfits with masks and dance to brass band tunes in the spirit of joyful celebration in unity.

Before the festival began, there were performances and fantastic displays from notable musicians and bands including D Black band.

The band leader Peter Dodzi and Blackmore said they were grateful patrons liked their performance.

African Cultural Traditional Fancy Dress Festival is a continuation of a century-old tradition where adults and children wear colorful outfits and masks popularly known both at home and abroad as “Kaakamotobi” during the Christmas period to dance to brass band music and also perform traditional and cultural songs to patrons.

Gifty Nelson, a backing vocalist and Raymond Decardi also said that they are glad to have been welcomed by the organizers of the festival and that they are willing to be part of the festival yearly.

This year’s (2018) edition was held in Ghana at the Swedru Sports Stadium, and was graced by thousands of people including tourists, chiefs, religious leaders, and the general public who witnessed exciting dance moves from the groups who competed among themselves.
