Court Order, Attempts to Seize Car: Randy Abbey gives background to invasion of Metro TV

A video has surfaced showing a tensed confrontation between the host of Metro TV’s Good Morning Ghana, Dr. Randy Abbey, and a group of police officers, as well as armed men, who attempted to enter the studios of the media house on Wednesday, November 27, 2024.

Earlier during the show on Wednesday, the host announced, following a brief disruption in broadcast, that a scuffle was underway within the building of the media house by a group of armed men accompanied by police officers, as they attempted to enter their studio.

According to Dr. Randy Abbey, private security persons working at the station had been attacked by the invaders, leading to one of the security persons suffering an injury.

In the video cited by GhanaWeb, Dr. Randy Abbey is seen questioning the authority of the police and the alleged armed men in attempting to enter the studio.

“Which court gave you that authority?” a furious Dr. Randy Abbey is seen questioning a uniformed police officer.

It is not clear what may have motivated the presence of the alleged armed men and police officers within the premises of Metro TV.

Meanwhile, the Ghana Police Service, as of the time of this publication, had not issued a statement or reacted to the incident.
