Chief arrested for ordering burning of driver’s mate

The Chief of Pakoso in the Ejisu-Juabeng Municipality of the Ashanti Region, Nana Boakye Amponsah II has been arrested by the Police after he caused the beating to death of a driver’s mate.

According to reports, the deceased named Shaban, 20 years, who at the time of his lyching was suffering from hay fever and could not control himself, entered the chief’s palace on Thursday.

The Chief upon seeing him started interrogating the deceased and mistook him to be a thief because he couldn’t answer his questions and behaved strangely.

Nana Boakye Amponsah II is said to have then called on the youth of the town to mercilessly beat the deceased and later set him on fire resulting in his death.

The family of the deceased having gotten wind of the killing of their relative, stormed the chief’s palace to demand their pound of flesh.

However, the Chief rushed out and started firing warning shots indiscriminately forcing Shaban’s relatives to run for their lives leaving his body at the palace.

The Ejisu Police later came and arrested the Chief to assist in investigations and conveyed the body to the Juabeng Hospital morgue.

A family spokesperson told Kasapa News that the deceased who had been suffering from hae fever for sometime now was under medical treatment until his death.

He said the family will not claim the deceased’s body for burial until justice has been served.
