Actor Kwaku Manu has criticized Matthew Opoku Prempeh, also known as NAPO, the running mate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), for suggesting that President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has outperformed Ghana’s first president, Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
He believes that the current president cannot be equated to former president John Agyekum Kufour, who maintained a stable exchange rate of $1 to GH₵1.
Kwaku Manu emphasized that even ex-president Kufour never compared his achievements to those of Kwame Nkrumah.
Therefore, Kwaku Manu cautioned NAPO against comparing President Nana Addo’s performance to that of Dr. Kwame Nkrumah.
“Even our former president, Kufour, who maintained a one-dollar, one-cedi rate, never compared himself to Dr. Kwame Nkrumah. Not once. Listen to me, he never did that,” Kwaku Manu stated in a live TikTok video shared on X, formerly Twitter.
Kwaku Manu believes that Dr. Kwame Nkrumah was the pioneer of Ghana’s industrialization post-independence, responsible for many facilities and factories currently in use by Ghanaians.
He pointed out, “The Tema motorway was built over 50 years ago and is still in use. Nowadays, governments construct roads that deteriorate within three days.
“Are you trying to compare yourself to Kwame Nkrumah? He established a shoe factory, I’m talking about what he did, not what he promised to do.
“He also set up a car tire factory, where is that factory now?”
