Central Region: COVID-19 kills 7 persons in Mfantseman Municipality

The Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) of Mfantseman Municipal Assembly, Kenneth Kelly Essuman has confirmed that the Municipal Health Directorate has recorded seven coronavirus deaths with 107 recoveries.

The Municipality however does not have any active COVID-19 cases according to the MCE, commending health workers for their hard work and commitment towards managing the virus in the Municipality.

Mr. Kelly Essuman made these revelations when the First Lady of the Republic of Ghana, Mrs. Rebecca Akufo-Addo visited the Saltpond Hospital to donate assorted medical items to the facility to enhance health delivery.

He stated that his outfit has completed all the abandoned Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds abandoned by the previous government to boost health care delivery in the Municipality.

Mr. Kelly Essuman said out of the 36 Electoral Areas in the Mfantseman Municipality, 18 Electoral Areas can boast of an ultra-modern CHIPS compounds.

On her part, Mrs. Akufo-Addo said Ghanaians must be happy that the rate of the COVID-19 infection is slowing down and recoveries are going up.

“It is important that we adopt all the safety precautions to stop the spread so hopefully we can get back to our normal lives” Mrs. Akufo-Addo tasked.

She revealed that Rebecca’s Foundation has provided a lot of resources to improve upon the health sector in the country.

Mrs. Akufo-Addo restated that since 2017 her foundation has been a great partner to the Ministry of Health and the Ghana Health Service to make health services more accessible and available to the Ghanaians especially women and Children.

This government, according to the First Lady, has invested enormously in the health sector, building and constructing new health facilities as well as rehabilitate existing facilities especially in deprived communities to enhance access to health care across all the 16 regions of the country.
