Defence Ministry staff, military man, 3 others arrested in armed robbery using military vehicle, weapons

Corporal Kwame Ampaw, a 35 year old dismissed personnel of the Ghana Armed Forces in the company of a civilian staff of the Ministry of Defence Burma Camp, Isaac Appiah have been arrested for armed robbery using a military service van and weapons.

According to the facts as relayed to MyNewsGh.com, on 10th March 2021 at about 12 noon, Police received a distress call from one Emmanuel Ofori of Agyare Real Estate and construction Ghana Limited Jei-River Ofaakor that 5 men on board military service vehicle number 46 GA 92 pounced on the workers at sand winning site and robbed them of their mobile phones, seized their car keys including 7 tipper trucks and various sums of money at knife point and sped off.

Police acting on intelligence learnt the robbers sped off to meet a Chief one Michael Larbi alias  Nai Atopi at Nai Atopi hills.

Police acting on intelligence proceeded to Nai Atopi palace and arrested suspects Corporal Kwame Ampaw with service number 197340 aged 35, who was dismissed from the military personnel.

That was when they also found Isaac Appiah aged 43 who is a civilian employee of the ministry of Defence Burma Camp.

The robbers also included Emmanuel Arthur and Basit Sulley.

Eleven (11) assorted mobile phones, ID card bearing the name of Emmanuel Dugble, one pump action gun with number MVO351885 and cash the sum of GHC 1,511.00 were retrieved from them.

At the police station information received indicated that the robbers shot five persons who sustained gunshot injuries and were rushed to Trauma and Specialist hospital Winneba for treatment.

The suspects have all been detained and the exhibits including military vehicle also retained for investigation.
