The incident happened on Sunday June, 26, 2022 around 8:30 PM.

Report gathered by EIB Network Central Regional Correspondent, Yaw Boagyan revealed that the wife of the deceased threatened to divorce him and as he couldn’t contain the thought of losing his wife, he decided to end everything by taking his life.

The wife of the deceased who’s a businesswoman who transports cassava, Oranges, Plantains and other foodstuffs to many parts of the country is sometimes said to stay away from home on business trips for over six months.

The wife, who was reportedly away for over one year, returned on Saturday June, 25, 2022 in the evening and told her husband that she was walking away from the marriage.

She’s said to have gone to the market and bought all the marriage items her late husband bought for the marriage rites to be performed years ago and threatened to return the items to his family and walk out of the marriage.

Disturbed by her wife’s threat, the deceased on Sunday evening told his children that he was going to Town only for them to be informed that their father has hanged himself on a pit latrine.

Some residents who were going to ease themselves on the toilet saw him hanging on the toilet.

The incident was reported to the Nkwantanum Police Station, following which police went to the scene and conveyed the body to the Saltpond Government Hospital mortuary.
