Businesses in worst situation than before – Report

The Second Quarter Business Condition Report by the Sekondi Takoradi Chamber of Commerce and Industry (STCCI) reveals that businesses seem to be in worst situations than previously.

Speaking to Ghone Business News after the presentation of the Quarter 2 report in Takoradi, the deputy chief executive officer of STCCI, Benjamin Nii Kpani Addy revealed that the general challenges that usually plague businesses in the Western Region did not change drastically in the report.

He added that the lack of demand among other factors has pushed businesses in the Western Region into the worst situation than before.

The Quarter 2 report sampled 202 business entrepreneurs between 14th and 23rd July 2020 in areas of the Western Region like Shama, Bogoso , Esiama , Mpohor , Anyinase , Apowa and others .

The survey revealed a 16.9 percent in demand leading to layoffs due to low turnout of activities.

At least 13.3 percent of respondents ascribed their business challenges to the prevailing Covid-19 pandemic.
