Buhari receives a copy of Nigeria's first locally manufactured smartphone in Abuja

Nigerian President Muhammadu Buhari on Wednesday June 9 presented with the country’s first ever 100% made-in-Nigeria mobile phone.

Buhari received the mobile device during a virtual Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting held inside the State House, Abuja.

The device was presented to the President by the Minister of Industry, Trade and Investment, Otunba Niyi Adebayo, before the commencement of the FEC meeting.

According to the presidency, “the ITF Mobile, a new Android phone was produced by the Electrical/Electronics Technology Department of the Industrial Training Fund’s (ITF) Model Skills Training Center (MSTC) in Abuja.

“The ITF Mobile is made from components 100% locally sourced in Nigeria (from Lagos and Aba), and is being readied for mass production.”

Other physically present attendees of the cabinet were Vice President, Yemi Osinbajo; Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha; Chief of Staff to the President, Ibrahim Gambari.

Others included the National Security Adviser (NSA), Babagana Monguno; Attorney General of the Federation, Abubakar Malami, Minister for Information, Lai Mohammed, and Finance Minister, Zainab Ahmed.
