Boankra Inland Port Project: Phase one expected to be completed by Q1 2025 – Dr. Justice Amo

The Chief Executive Officer of Justmoh Construction Limited, Dr. Justice Amo, has announced that phase one of the Boankra Inland Port project is expected to be completed by the first quarter of 2025.

According to Dr. Amo, phase one includes key infrastructure such as a storage facility, a security zone, roads, and the terminal, which will be operational upon completion.

The project is being executed in two phases, with phase two scheduled for completion by 2026.

Dr. Amo who was speaking with journalists in Accra appealed to the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government, under the leadership of H.E. John Dramani Mahama, to support the project and expedite its completion.

He also expressed gratitude to the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for his tremendous efforts in supporting the development of the project and acknowledged the crucial role the Asantehene has played in ensuring its success.

Located in the Ashanti Region, the Boankra Inland Port project was initiated to serve importers and exporters in Ghana’s middle and northern regions.

Additionally, it aims to provide an efficient conduit for transporting transit goods to and from neighboring countries.

The project, which dates back to the administration of former President John Agyekum Kufuor, has faced numerous challenges over the years, including delays following the exit of the NPP government in 2009.

Former President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo officially launched the construction of the port on November 5, 2020.

The port’s completion is expected to boost Ghana’s role in the African Continental Free Trade Agreement (AfCFTA) and enhance the country’s capacity to reap maximum benefits from the agreement.

Dr. J.B. Koranteng Yorke, Project Director for the Boankra Inland Port, emphasized the project’s importance in reducing traffic congestion and accidents on the Accra-Kumasi highway.

To address these concerns, the team has incorporated an interchange into the project design.

Ing. Jarra Siddique, Project Manager at Justmoh Construction Limited, revealed that phase one of the project is currently 78% complete. Work is ongoing on the terminal, as well as offices for the fire station, fuel station, government agencies, and other facilities.

As the project nears completion, residents of Boankra and neighboring communities have expressed joy over its progress. They noted that the construction phase has created job opportunities for unemployed youth and holds the promise of a brighter future for their communities.

The Boankra Inland Port is expected to play a pivotal role in improving Ghana’s trade logistics and ensuring economic growth through enhanced trade facilitation.
