The Director of Elections of the governing National Democratic Congress (NDC), Samuel Ofosu-Ampofo has slammed the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Bosiako for interfering in their party matters.
Mr Antwi Bosiako, popularly known as Chairman Wontumi, had claimed that he was only one who could decide how the NDC must run elections and the people to lead various positions.
His comment comes after Joseph Yamin was defeated at the polls in his bid to become the Ashanti Regional chairman of the NDC.
He polled 611 against Augustus Adrew Nana Akwasi, who won with 699, per the results declared by the Electoral Commission (EC).
Chairman Wontumi, reacting to the outcome of the elections said he was not surprised because former president John Mahama who is planning on leading the party is incompetent and not capable of leading his party.
To him, President Mahama will be the easiest candidate for the NPP to beat, saying he will personally make sure the NDC presents John Mahama as the presidential candidate for the NDC.
But Ofosu-Ampofo wondered why Chairman Wontumi keeps meddling in the affairs of the NDC when he lacks locus to do so.
“Who is Wontumi to decide for the NDC on how to organize elections and the people to contest. He has no right and we won’t even glorify him by commenting on what he says. He cannot even decide who to become a branch executive let alone who leads the party” he warned on Accra based Okay FM monitored by Adomonline.com.
Describing Chairman Wontumi as an unserious politician, Mr Ofosu-Ampofo advised him (Wontumi) to focus his energy on his incompetent government and not attack NDC.
“Wontumi should channel his energy on his government and not the NDC. He is just not a serious politician. He is only daydreaming and should not be entertained,” he said.
