New Patriotic Party (NPP) Member of Parliament for Assin Central, Kennedy Ohene Agyapong, has rubbished claims that he has refused to campaign for his party in 2020.

According to him, such stories are fabricated to tarnish his image.

Reports of Mr Agyapong serving notice that he would not campaign for his party either in Ghana or elsewhere in the country were rife.

According to the report, the NPP firebrand has declared he would not venture into certain areas to campaign for his party in the 2020 polls.

“We went to Magazine and campaigned and that day the crowd that came out was just unimaginable but this time if you ask me to go,” he was reported to have said.

To him, the Akufo-Addo government is not aware of the implications of its tax imposition decisions on Ghanaian businesses.

He said he visited some areas in Tema himself and noticed that a high tax which he thinks “doesn’t make sense” is causing the collapse of many businesses, causing Ghanaian businesses to lose their means of employment.

According to Mr Agyapong, Ghanaian and expatriate businesses are all being affected as they cannot sustain their operations due to the high tax demands, coupled with high import duties.

Mr Agyapong has therefore called on the Akufo-Addo government to act fast.
