Ashanti regional police hunt for ‘Baba Macho’ after arresting three in connection with MoMo vendor killings

The Ashanti Regional Police Command has arrested three suspects in connection with the robberies and murders of two mobile money vendors in the region.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCOP) Emmanuel Teye-Cudjoe, the Ashanti Regional Police Commander, announced the arrests at a press briefing held at the regional police headquarters.

The suspects, identified as Charles Kwame Danso (23), Philip Fodjour (29), and Samuel Addae Mensah (42), were apprehended on March 21 at Pankrono and Atimatim.

They are implicated in the February 13 murder of Patricia Nimako in Krofrom, where she was robbed and killed, and the March 10 robbery and murder of Gideon Owusu Sarpong in Kwadaso.

DCOP Teye-Cudjoe stated that the arrested suspects are currently in police custody and will be brought before the court to face justice.

However, he emphasized that the investigation is ongoing, with efforts focused on locating a fourth suspect, Martin Amoah, also known as Augustine Amoah or “Baba Macho.” “We believe Amoah may be hiding in Kumasi, Dunkwa-on-Offin, or Diaso,” he added.

The Ashanti Regional Police Commander is appealing to the public for assistance in locating Martin Amoah.

DCOP Teye-Cudjoe urged anyone with information regarding Amoah’s whereabouts to contact the police immediately via the toll-free numbers 191, 112, or 18555 (for MTN and Telecel users).

The Police Command reiterated its commitment to ensuring justice is served in these cases and called on the public to remain vigilant and cooperate with law enforcement to bring all those responsible to justice.
