Asamoah Gyan, Abedi Pele get CAF appointments

Legendary Ghanaian footballers Asamoah Gyan and Abedi Ayew Pele have been appointed by the Confederation of African Football (CAF) as ambassadors for the 2025 African Schools Football Championship.

According to ghanafa.org, the two iconic footballers are tasked with playing a key role in promoting the tournament and inspiring young players to give their best in the competition.

Apart from the tournament, they are also required to foster the growth of youth football across the African continent to unearth talents and showcase their potential.

Both Abedi Pele and Asamoah Gyan have been dedicated to giving back to their community and nurturing young football talents.

Abedi Pele’s football club, Nania FC, have produced several talented players who have gone on to represent Ghana at various levels.

Being a three-time ‘African Footballer of the Year’ and former captain of the Black Stars, he is renowned for his exceptional skills, vision, and leadership on the pitch.

Abedi Pele, a former AFCON winner in 1982, led the team to the 1992 AFCON finals.

Asamoah Gyan, on the other hand, has been involved in various charitable initiatives, including the Asamoah Gyan Foundation, which supports underprivileged children and promotes education and sports development.

The goal-scoring legend is a household name in African football, with an impressive record of 51 goals in 109 appearances for the Black Stars.

Meanwhile, the 2025 African Schools Championship is scheduled to take place in Ghana from April 21 to 26, 2025, at the University of Ghana Stadium in Accra.
