Anas to release exposé on Kennedy Agyapong if elected NPP flagbearer

Private legal practitioner Maurice Ampaw claims that investigative journalist Anas Aremeyaw Anas has a second exposé about former Assin Central Member of Parliament Kennedy Agyapong.

He noted that information gathered from credible sources indicates Anas has conducted another probe into the former MP, but it has yet to be released.

The outspoken legal practitioner hinted that the exposé will be released if Agyapong is elected as the New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer for the 2028 elections.

Speaking on Wontumi TV, Ampaw alleged that some National Democratic Congress (NDC) members are backing this move to derail the NPP’s chances of winning the 2028 elections and remain in government.

“NDC wishes Kennedy Agyapong were the NPP’s flagbearer so they can easily trample upon him. Even in the Anas case, they’re waiting for the party to choose Agyapong as leader so they can bring another exposé. I’m telling you, Anas has another exposé on Kennedy; I know what I’m talking about,” he said.

About Anas’ legal battle with Kennedy Agyapong

A US court ruled in favor of Anas, awarding him $18 million in damages after finding that Kennedy Agyapong defamed him.

The dispute originated from Agyapong’s remarks following Anas’s 2018 BBC investigation into football corruption in Ghana.

In 2021, Kennedy Agyapong accused Anas of being a “criminal” and falsely linked him to the murder of journalist Ahmed Hussein-Suale, killed in 2019.

On Tuesday, March 18, 2025, an eight-member jury in Essex County Superior Court upheld an earlier verdict, holding Agyapong liable for defamation.
