All you need to know about Munira Adams, the fearless guardian of the Gonja king

However, one woman stands out among the warriors of the Gonja Kingdom; Munira Adams.

As Ghana celebrates International Women’s Day, GhanaWeb shares the inspiring story of Munira Adams, the only female warrior serving as a guardian of the revered Gonja King, Yagbonwura Bii-Kunuto Jewu Soale.

Munira’s presence defies societal norms and exemplifies unwavering courage.

“I was born into the clan. My father and mother are both warriors. Before I was spiritually fortified, I made sure to finish delivering my children because if you take up the role of a warrior before completing childbirth, you may never be able to bear children again,” Munira shared, according to a report by 3news.com.

The sacred preparation highlights the deep-rooted traditions of her warrior clan, where both physical and spiritual readiness are essential.

Munira embodies this dual strength, showing her prowess.

“As you see me, I can confidently say that no one can challenge me, physically or spiritually, and no bullet from any gun can penetrate my skin,” she confidently declared, the report said.

In a world traditionally dominated by men, particularly in roles as protectors, Munira has paved her own path, fearlessly standing tall among the king’s warriors. Through her skill and spiritual resilience, she has proven her worth.

“I am the bodyguard of the king. Even though there are other senior warriors who are all men, I don’t feel intimidated by them in any way. The king trusts and respects me for my bravery. He knows that when I am with him, he is not only protected physically but also spiritually,” she said.

Her husband also expressed his confidence in her, saying, “I don’t fear for my wife. I know she is spiritually fortified, and I understand her calling to serve the king.”

Beyond her role as a warrior, Munira shared a powerful message for women as the world celebrates International Women’s Day.

“I want to urge my fellow women to be bold and embrace their roles in society. No woman should feel intimidated by any man or society into abandoning her calling,” she said.

Her words resonate far beyond the walls of the Gonja Kingdom, inspiring women who face barriers in various aspects of life.

Munira Adams is not just a warrior; she is a beacon of strength, proving that courage knows no gender.
