Akufo-Addo under pressure to oust Western North Regional Minister

Following the Western North Regional Minister, Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu’s, controversial and unprofessional letter to the Local Government and Rural Development Minister, which attacked the integrity and character of the overlord of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II, the Traditional Council has performed the necessary customary rites to pacify the gods and their ancestors for what they described as abominable and unethical conduct not to repeat itself in the newly created region.

Hon. Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu’s, letter dated 11th June 2019.

The council poured libation and slaughtered a Sheep, which meant cleansing the dirt the insult had brought on the stool and, affirmed the traditional council’s resolution that they could no longer coexist with Hon. Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu as the Western North Regional Minister in Sefwi Wiawso.

Last Thursday, 20th June 2019, the Traditional Council’s spokesperson, Nana Elluo Payin III of Nsuosua, who is also the Kyidomhene of Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council said that the appointing authorities should choose between the Traditional Council and the Regional Minister and was quick to add that “We have no doubt that the President will adhere to our plea but in an unlikely event that the President insists on maintaining Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu as the Western North Regional Minister then we will advise ourselves.”

In an angry mood, Nana Elluo III noted that Sefwi Wiawso Traditional Council has six good constituencies under it and therefore the overlord, Katakyie Kwasi Bumangama II should not be treated with impunity and disrespect.

Nana Elluo III further stated that they could not entrust the security of Katakyie in the hands of Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu as the head of Regional Security Council.

He emphasized that the Traditional Council had been seriously disturbed because they did not know the real motive behind the conduct of the Regional Minister. “To concoct and fabricate such a needless story that bothers on Katakyie’s integrity, image and character cannot be mere accidental to be treated lightly,” Nana Elluo III added.

Nana Elluo III stated categorically that Kingsley Aboagye-Gyedu was not the only son of the land that could hold the regional ministerial position and, therefore, as a matter of urgency the President should replace him with another person that has respect for all the Traditional Authorities in the region and ready to fight for the development of the region.
