President Akufo-Addo has joined the chain of tributes to the civil rights icon, John Lewis.
John Lewis, a congressman died of pancreatic cancer at the age of 80.
Akufo-Addo in a message of condolences described late Lewis as a man “who dedicated his life to helping to realize the goals of the movement, i.e to end legalised racial discrimination, disenfranchisement and racial segregation in the United States.”
“His was a life well-lived”, Akufo-Addo said.
Lewis in August 2019 joined a host of US congress delegation to Ghana, as part of activities to commemorate the “Year of Return”.
Flags were flown at half-mast on Saturday morning in the United States to mourn the passing of John lewis.
