Akufo Addo can’t rescue Ghanaians from hardship except me – Mahama

Former President John Dramani Mahama has reiterated that, the National Democratic Congress (NDC), is the only political party that can rescue citizens from the economic hardship they are experiencing today.

The aspiring presidential candidate hopeful told delegates at Atebubu/Amantin municipality that, Ghanaians are yearning for the return of NDC hence the need for them to give him a massive endorsement on December 7, 2018 so he will lead the umbrella family to victory in 2020.

Mr Mahama said, ‘’before victory 2020, you [delegates] should look out for someone with the requite skills, someone who can provide competent leadership, someone with the track record to deliver and someone with the experience to provide citizens with better leadership. You need to look out for a unifier and a leader who can be trusted.’’

Ghanaians, he suggested are disappointed in the ruling New Patriotic Party (NPP) for failing to deliver on their campaign promises hence the need for the NDC to present a viable candidate to wrestle power from the NPP. ‘’The NDC has done it before and we can do it again.

When we were in power, there was economic stability and transformation. We provided an environment for Ghanaians to enjoy the progress we provided. Ghanaians wanted to bring in a change to see if it would be better but they have now realised it is only the NDC that is able to bring stability when in power.’’

Mr Mahama took a swipe at the NPP for attacking his decision to return as candidate and asked them to focus on their internal matters. ‘’Why should the NPP be bothered about my return? Why are they afraid of me? It is non of their business if I contest or not.

They brought Nana Addo to contest the late Mills, he was defeated, they brought him to face me in 2012, I defeated and finally they brought him in 2016 before he won; why did they not change him after he missed the opportunity to become president in 2008 and 2012? The former president who is in the area for a five-day tour pleaded with members of the NDC to unite its front so they will massively defeat the NPP In 2020.

The NDC he said lost the seat in the constituency due to disunity but ‘’we have to unite our front and come strong at the NPP so we are able to defeat them in 2020.’’ ‘’We have to unite because the NPP is only having one term. We will defeat the NPP in 2020 but we have to be united,’’ he concluded.
