President Akufo-Addo has approved the Ghana Football Association’s October 30, 2020 start date for the 2020-21 season.
The President announced on Sunday that the Ghana Premier League and other domestic competitions will start on the date announced by the Association in July after they cancelled the 2019-20 season because of the coronavirus pandemic.
Akufo-Addo has also lifted the ban on the non-contact sport, which means teams can starting training with immediate effect for the season.
Football activities were halted in March following the outbreak of the deadly virus, which has killed 297 people in the country.
However, the President in July gave the go-ahead for some national teams – U-17 men, U-20 women and U-17 men – to start camping ahead of their respective qualifiers later this year.
