AG inaugurates OSP Board; urges members to declare assets

A nine-member governing board of the Office of the Special (OSP) Prosecutor has urged to abide by the assets declaration act and declare their assets as they serve on the board.

The board members have also been reminded of their disclosure of interest obligations under the law as they take office.

The Attorney-General and Minister for Justice Godfred Yeboah Dame said their “faithful adherence” to the duties they hold has far-reaching implications of their public life.

“I entreat you to be mindful of the duties and liabilities of a member of the board under Section 7 of Act 959. A violation of this provision will result in a cessation of your membership on the baord.

The AG also reminded them of “your very important obligation to declare your assets in accordance with articles 286 of the Constitution, as well as the disclosure of interest obligation under Section 10 of Act 959, whenever a member of the board has interest in any matter coming up for consideration,” the AG advised.

Kissi Agyabeng the Special Prosecutor on behalf of the members said they put in their professional best and make the office the foremost Anti-Corruption body in Africa.

Composition of the board

The inauguration of the board means the OSP office is fully set and complete to function.

Their mandates according to the AG are among other things to see to the recruitment of senior staff for the office as defined in the Act 959.

“The board is, in addition to its general responsibility for formulating policies necessary for the achievement of the object of the office, particularly required to ensure the proper and effective performance of the functions of the office, advice the Special Prosecutor on the recruitment and selection of senior staff of the office and facilitate cooperation between the office and relevant national investigative body.

Ms. Vivian Lamptey, Deputy Special Prosecutor, Lawrence Ndaago Ayagiba – Audit Service Representative, DCOP Wilfred Boahen Frimpong – Ghana Police Service, Aba Jacqueline Opoku – Economic and Organized Crime Office, Kofi Boahen A. Boakye- Financial Intelligence Center,
Stephen Azantilow- Commission on Human Rights and Administrative Justice, COP George Tuffour (Rtd), National Security and Linda Ofori-Kwafo – Anti-Corruption Civil Society.
