VIDEO: Adansi Traditional Leaders Invoke Gods Over Obuasi SHTS Allegations

Chiefs and elders of the Adansi Traditional Council have reportedly performed traditional rites at Obuasi Senior High Technical School (SHTS) following disturbing allegations of sexual abuse involving the school’s headmaster and the discovery of a foetus on the school compound.

The intervention was intended to address concerns among traditional authorities and community members following the incidents, which have attracted attention in the Obuasi area of the Ashanti Region.

According to reports, the chiefs and elders visited the school to perform libation and cleansing rituals. The traditional leaders reportedly expressed concern that the developments had brought fear and uncertainty to the community and prayed for an end to sickness, misfortune and other difficulties they associated with the situation.

The rituals reflected the traditional council’s response to the concerns surrounding the school, where the reported incidents have raised questions about student welfare and the safety of the learning environment.

The controversy includes allegations by 19 students who reportedly accused the headmaster of sexual abuse. The claims have generated concern among members of the school community and renewed calls for the circumstances to be properly investigated.

The allegations remain subject to the appropriate investigative and legal processes, and they should not be treated as proof of guilt unless established through those processes.

The situation was further complicated by the reported discovery of a male foetus on the school grounds. Reports indicate that the remains were exhumed on August 5, 2026, after students raised an alarm about activity on the compound.

The remains were reportedly taken to Obuasi Government Hospital for preservation while investigations continued. The circumstances surrounding the discovery, including how the foetus came to be buried on the school premises, were not fully established in the available reports.

The developments have heightened concerns about the school’s environment and the need for authorities to establish the facts surrounding both the allegations and the discovery.

While the traditional leaders’ intervention addressed cultural and spiritual concerns, the police investigation remains important in determining what happened and whether any offences were committed. Establishing the facts will require evidence, proper investigations and, where necessary, legal proceedings.

The incident has also drawn attention to the responsibility of educational institutions to provide safe environments for students and to ensure that allegations of abuse are handled seriously and appropriately.

Parents, students and other members of the community will be looking for clear answers from the relevant authorities as investigations progress. Any findings should be communicated through the appropriate channels to avoid speculation and ensure that those affected receive proper attention.

The traditional rites at Obuasi SHTS mark a community response to a troubling situation, but the full circumstances surrounding the allegations and the discovery remain matters for investigation.
