COP Frank Adu Poku, the Executive Director of the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) has revealed that the agency has dismissed seven members of its staff for engaging in extortion.

The sacked offices were also accused of conflict of interest following some decisions they took.

Speaking at a stakeholder engagement on the activities of EOCO organised under the theme: ‘Combating Organised Crime in Ghana, A Shared Responsibility’, Mr Poku said: “Between 2017 and 2018, seven officers have been dismissed on charges of extortion and conflict of interest and currently three officers are on interdiction for various offences.”

The EOCO boss further explained that the exercise is part of moves to inspire public confidence in the organisation and also to smoke out the bad nuts.
