Ghana’s Electoral Commission will today, Monday, 17 June 2019 begin the limited voter registration exercise.
An injunction application against the exercise forced the election management body to put it on hold until after the court dismissed the case recently.
The limited exercise will end on Sunday, 7 July 2019.
In a statement signed by Chairperson Jean Mensa, the EC said it was announcing “for the information of the general public that the limited voter registration exercise will now take place from Monday, 17 June 2019 to Sunday, 7 July 2019”.
Documents required for registration include a Ghanaian passport, a valid driver’s licence, a National Identification card and an old non-biometric voter’s identity card for those who registered before the 2012 Voters Registration Exercise.
Applicants who do not have any of the above documents may go to the registration centres with two registered voters to serve as guarantors.
The exercise should have started on June 7 and ended on June 27 had the EC not been dragged to court.
