Ablekuma North rerun: Fake security personnel arrested near Awoshie DVLA polling station

The Ghana Police Service has arrested several individuals clad in brown uniforms who were impersonating security personnel near the Awoshie DVLA polling station in the Ablekuma North Constituency.

Sources indicate the suspects failed to properly identify themselves when questioned and were subsequently taken to the Odorkor Police Station for further investigation.

The individuals were spotted near the entrance of the polling centre during the ongoing parliamentary election re-run.

Their lack of valid identification raised suspicion among officers deployed to maintain security at the venue.

Speaking to Accra-based Citi News, the Municipal Chief Executive (MCE) for Ga West and Dean of MMDCEs in the Greater Accra Region, John Desmond Nii Sowah Nai, confirmed the arrests.

He stated that the police suspect the individuals may not belong to any recognised state security agency.

Police investigations are ongoing to establish the identities and motives of the suspects.
