Smile4Ghana Partners with the Joshua Buatsi Foundation, and the Awua Mensah Foundation for special dental outreach in Ghana
A collaborative effort by Smile4Ghana, the Joshua Buatsi Foundation, and the Awua Mensah Foundation, sponsored by Pepsodent, to provide free dental care and education to underserved communities.

Accra, Ghana — April 21, 2025 — This Good Friday, renowned British dentist, Dr. Kevin Dapaah visited the Nungua Orphanage in Accra to conduct a special dental outreach program, including screenings, aimed at improving oral health and hygiene among underprivileged children. This Initiative has been made possible through a partnership with the Joshua Buatsi Foundation and the Awua Mensah Foundation, with the generous support and sponsorship from Pepsodent.
This marks a powerful collaborative effort aimed at delivering vital oral health services and awareness to communities with limited access to dental care.
Following the Good Friday event, Smile4Ghana, and Dr. Dapaah will extend the outreach to the Western Region of Ghana. This initiative is part of his ongoing work with Smile4Ghana, a not-for-profit organisation he is proud to be part of, focused on transforming access to dental care across Ghana. From April 23rd to 26th, he will work alongside the Smile4Ghana and a diverse team of over 40 professionals—including medics, dentists, nurses, and volunteers—in Essikado. The team will offer a wide range of free dental services such as cleanings, fillings, extractions, gum disease treatments, and polishes, along with medication and community oral health education. Over the course of the outreach, more than 800 people are expected to be treated, many receiving professional dental care for the first time.
“It is incredibly fulfilling to use my skills to give back to my people,” said Dr. Dapaah. “We are grateful to the Awua Mensah Foundation, the Joshua Buatsi Foundation, and Pepsodent for making this outreach possible, and we look forward to continuing our work to impact Ghanaians’ lives, one confident smile at a time.”
Smile4Ghana and Dr. Dapaah are committed to play a key role not only by delivering care, but also shaping the future of dental practice in Ghana. Through training, advocacy, and hands-on outreach, Smile4Ghana aims to support and work with the relevant stakeholders to address the systemic lack of dental professionals in the country, while empowering young people to consider careers in dentistry.
“The dentist-to-patient ratio remains critically low. We must invest in training and development for the next generation of dentists, while we continue to encourage regulatory and professional bodies to adopt innovations that enhance both reach and effectiveness,” Dr. Dapaah affirmed.
He continued, “Access to dental care should not be a privilege. These outreach programs are about restoring smiles, but more importantly, restoring confidence and health in communities that need it most.”
Smile4Ghana’s trustee, Dr. George Brown, Dr. Chris Vondee and Dr. Malcolm Farr, outlined the broader vision:
“We are beyond proud to work with Dr. Dapaah. His leadership and dedication to service reflect the heart of our mission. These programs go beyond dental care—they uplift entire communities. By restoring dignity through health, we are building a stronger, healthier Ghana.”
This collaborative endeavour continues to inspire a new generation of health professionals and bridge gaps in healthcare delivery—one outreach, one village, and one smile at a time.
