Transfer News: Man United eyes Osimhen in potential swap deal for Højlund

Manchester United are reportedly exploring the possibility of signing Victor Osimhen in a swap deal involving Rasmus Højlund in the summer transfer window.

Ruben Amorim’s side is expected to enter the market to secure a prolific striker to strengthen their attack for next season.

The Red Devils’ current attacking duo, Joshua Zirkzee and Rasmus Højlund, have struggled to make a significant impact since their moves to the Premier League. Zirkzee has recorded just six goals in 44 competitive appearances since joining from Bologna last summer, while Højlund has managed eight goals in 39 matches across all competitions.

According to The Athletic’s David Ornstein, Manchester United may consider parting ways with Højlund to make room for Osimhen.

“I expect Osimhen to leave Napoli, and Manchester United have been linked. However, I’m not sure how realistic it is for them to let go of Rasmus Højlund. I think they would want to build the team around him,” Ornstein said via the Sky Podcast.

“Højlund is one of the players who could generate funds, but he won’t yield a profit on his book value. Therefore, I believe it’s more likely that United will look to raise funds from other players.”

Victor Osimhen has been in sensational form since joining Galatasaray on a season-long loan from Napoli last September.

The 26-year-old has netted 26 goals and registered five assists in 30 appearances for the Yellow and Reds.
