‘We wash our hands of Ablakwa, may all his sins be upon you’ – Afenyo-Markin tells the Majority
Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin reaffirmed the caucus’ position during Tuesday’s parliamentary session, saying that the Minority could not support Ablakwa’s appointment in the current situation.
Afenyo-Markin washed his hands after First Minority Deputy Whip Habib Iddrisu poured water on them as a symbolic gesture of displeasure, signaling the Minority’s disengagement from the approval process.
The Minority had previously abstained from voting on the approval of Samuel Nartey George.
Regarding the issue, Afenyo-Markin stated: “Let me without equivocation state that we will proceed with the same abstinence. We abstain from his decision. It is solely a Majority call. All the sins of Ablakwa are upon their head.”
He further added: “This one, we are washing our hands to tell them that every sin at the Airport Hills and I am cleaning my hands to tell them that we are not part of the sins that he has omitted. All the Airport Hills sins are on their head.”
“If tomorrow he and his ORAL start pursuing you, it is on your head. But if he repents and comes back to this house, we will accept him.”
