fish pond farmers inaugurate new executives
Members of Ghana National Association of Fish Pond Farmers have inaugurated new executives to steer the affairs of the association.
Executives appointed to play official roles include; Mr. Jacob Ainoo-Ansah ( National Chairman), Nana Kwaku Siaw (National Vice Chairman), Nana Yaw Frimpong (Secretary), Nana Paul Chame (Organiser), Mr Joe Ayamga who is the Deputy Organizer.
Others include Mr. John Kpemli (member), Nana Omani (Treasurer) and Mr. Henry Oppong Nimako Deputy Secretary.
The newly appointed executives are expected to champion the cause of the association as in addressing challenges threatening the growth of fish farming industry in Ghana through regular engagement with government officials.
Litany of challenges crippling the swift progress of the industry including inadequate logistics, unavailability of lands, expensive fish feed due to dollar inflation, high cost of fish pond farming machinery according to the National Vice Chairman Nana Kwaku Siaw calls for an urgent unification of all fish farmers in Ghana so that through a united front, their grievance will be addressed through consultation with authorities that be.
Nana Siaw indicated that the status-quo calls for government’s support, stressing that if government should offer the industry the needed attention, Fish Pond Farming in Ghana alone will maximize the country’s income generation.
Nana Kwaku Siaw in an exclusive interview with THE PRESS RADIO rated government’s support as highly abysmal, expatiating that “it appears that government is insensitive to the industrial dilemma that fish pond farmers are going through.
‘Whether we make profit or suffer loss he doesn’t care because he (government) has not invested into the industry”.
He therefore called on government to give the industry the needed attention and invest much into it.
