Ghana’s Felix Afena-Gyan completes loan move to Juventus reserves on deadline day

Ghanaian striker Felix Afena-Gyan is set to join Juventus Next Gen on a season-long loan from Cremonese, as reported on transfer deadline day.

Juventus Next Gen, the reserve team for Serie A giants Juventus, competes in Serie C Group C.

This move marks a notable shift for Afena-Gyan, who has previously progressed through youth football and represented Ghana at the senior international level.

Once considered a promising talent, his career has faced setbacks, and this loan move is seen as an opportunity for him to regain form and visibility.

Afena-Gyan first made headlines at AS Roma, where he scored six goals in five Primavera (U-19) games, catching the eye of manager Jose Mourinho.

He made his Serie A debut in October 2021 against Cagliari and notably scored twice against Genoa, becoming the first player born in 2003 to score in the league.

His performance earned him a contract renewal with Roma until 2026.

In August 2022, Afena-Gyan moved to Cremonese but has struggled for consistent opportunities, netting three goals and providing one assist in 36 appearances.

This latest move to Juventus Next Gen represents a step-down but offers a chance to revitalise his career.
