Spain’s Lamine Yamal barred from playing in extra time at Euro 2024 final vs England
Lamine Yamal is not allowed to play in extra time should the Euro 2024 final head there.
German laws prohibit Under-18s from working past 11pm on a Sunday, meaning Lamal will be breaking some serious rules should he still be on the pitch for an extra 30 minutes. The Sun reveal Spain would either have to sub the young star or face a €30,000 (£25k/$32k) fine.
It may go against the code, but Spain will likely take the risk when it comes to keeping Yamal on the pitch. The Barcelona youngster has been one of La Roja’s best players at Euro 2024 and scored a magnificent goal in the semi-final. A €30k fine will be the least of their concerns should they win in Berlin. Indeed, lawyer Jonas Warnken said a fine is unlikely to be issued.
Yamal is now the youngest player to appear at the finals of the European Championship. As well as this, the 17-year-old is also the youngest scorer in the knockout rounds. He will be looking to create more history in the final, perhaps with a winner.
Yamal will be looking to show up on the biggest stage of them all when Spain meet England on Sunday. The winger will be looking to mark his 17th birthday will a special present for both himself and his nation in the German capital.
